  1. Growth habit.
  2. Two Lejeunea-type branches arising from the main stem, ventral view, N.B., the formation of a lateral collar of cells at the base of the branch and a complete leaf associated with the branch; initial appendages reduced in size and lobule-free, formation of normal lobulate leaves occurring at BL 3 or BL4.
  3. Main stem, ventral view, N.B., large lobules in relation to the leaf-lobe and the zig-zag form of the stem.
  4. Leaf-lobe, lobule, stylus. Leaf-lobe with an apex; lobule remote from the stem, cylindrically pitcher-shaped, ca. 1/3 from the lobule mouth there is an enlarged and elongated cell, with the free wall forming a distinctive protuberance; stylus large, to 0.5 the length of the lobule, almost subrectangular in outline.
  5. A Lejeunea-type branch, N.B., the formation of a lateral collar of cells at the base of the branch and a complete-leaf associated with the branch; initial appendages reduced in size and lobule-free, formation of normal lobulate leaves occurring at BL 3 or BL4.
  6. Portion of main stem cell anaomy of the stylus of ca. 15-20 cells and stem-underleaves with lobes of ca. 3 cells wide.
  7. Leaf-lobule median cells, walls flexuose, with indistinct trigones and small nodulose intermediate thickenings.
  8. Elongated cell of the leaf-lobule, the free wall forming a protuberance that projects outwards (see inset).
  9. Leaf-lobe median cells, ± uniform in shape and size, ± subquadrate to rectangular, hyaline walls heavily and equally thickened, intermediate thickening absent.
  10. Perianth, 3-keeled.
  11. Perianth median cells with subequally thickened walls.
